Essential Self-Defence

Empowering and Effective Self-Defence
When’s the best time to learn First Aid? Easy answer. ‘Before you need it.’
And it’s the same with self-defence. It’s something that you might not have needed before but if you do need it… today, tomorrow… later in the year it is a skill you need to prepare beforehand.

Our immersive program will cover not just the physical but the emotional as well. You’ll learn to handle the crushing weight on your chest, those heavy limbs, and that rising panic. We’ll show you how to turn a frightened mind and body to one purpose and do it; Defend yourself.

There are a lot of self-defence programmes out there, some good and many bad. We’ve taken the guess work out of it for you and developed a programme that will give you what you need Now to be able to start defending yourself. Not after three months or three years training but starting from your first class.
After one session you will have the tools to start protecting yourself and the mindset to apply them as soon as you walk out the door. By the end of the course, you will have a firm grasp of human body mechanics and how to apply your new skill to a potentially life-threatening situation.

Our Essential Self-Defence immersive package teaches you what you need to know to deal with the most common assaults and how to practice unscripted self-defence scenarios.

FAQ’s

Q. Are the Trainers only Men?
Our courses are delivered by both male and female trainers

Q. Do I have to be fit to do this course?
A good level of fitness is always a good thing but really what we are looking for is can you: stomp your feet and slam a car door? If so great. Because that’s a good start and from there just doing the course will get you functionally fit for this content.

Q. Is this just for women?
No. Learning to protect yourself and loved ones is the right of anyone.

Q. I don’t live on the Gold Coast. What are my options?
Our sessions will be held over 6 Saturdays. So, if you’re in one of the surrounding cities why not make a day of it and check out the beaches or parks afterwards?

Q. I’m an actor, can I use any of this for my showreel?
Yes. You’re welcome to film any of your unscripted practice (At the consent of your training partner) and use that.
Q. I’ve done other self-defence courses before. Some good and some not. What makes you different?
We understand this one very well as our Founder has been there many times. There are a few things that make us different. Our training methods, content, layout, end goal and session sequencing. Not to mention our approach is straight to the point with nothing being taught that can’t be sued if not immediately then with only a little extra training needed.

Q. I don’t like to make contact with other people. Do I have to?
It’s a common request. The short answer is, ‘no.’ No one can make you do something you don’t want to do. However to learn the skills to defend yourself optimally requires you to make contact (super gently) with a training partner so that you can get a feel for what moving another body is going to be like.

I don’t want to hurt anyone.
Great! We train in such a way that both you and your training partner are safe and looked after. As for ‘hurting’ someone to defend yourself… we don’t train anyone who comes to us looking to hurt others. What we learn is how to make ourselves safe. Not to go out of our way to hurt others.
